We are very pleased to officially announce the dates, times, locations and instructors for our 40th Anniversary course and celebrations (that’s right, 40th!) .
The fun happens on the 11th, 12th, 13th October. There will be a Friday night evening class at our hombu dojo, followed by a full weekend’s course at Batley Sports & Tennis Centre. We will be holding a formal dinner on the evening of Saturday 12th, to celebrate the occasion too – more details on that to follow in the coming weeks.
As for instructors, well, we are extremely fortunate to have such high ranking instructors at our event. Besides our founder and principal Shane Riley Shihan and Senior White Rose Aikikai instructor Sensei Paul Derrick, we are happy to announce visiting instructors Philip Lee Shihan, founder and principal of Aikido Shinju-kai in Singapore; Philip Smith Shihan, United Kingdom Aikikai; and Sensei Frank Burlingham founder and principal of Aikikai Zen Ten; are coming to teach classes over the weekend and celebrate with us. Their ranks highlight their skill level and the huge amount of knowledge and experience they have gained in Aikido over the years. It is truly impressive that they will all be on the same mat together! Not only that, the guest instructors and their associations are some of our closest friends (of many) that White Rose Aikikai has had the pleasure to of gaining over its 40 years and we are privileged they will be here for this course. More information about all their Aikido backgrounds and journeys will be published as we build up to the event.
We want this weekend to be great, hard, intense, skillful, sharp training on the mat, and plenty of fun off it. All aikidoka are welcome to attend, especially friends we have made during our 40 years as an Aikido association (no matter how long ago we last saw you!). Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information about the event.
